We are looking for extraordinarily skilled Technology interns from a variety of backgrounds and interests to join our Kingdom this Autumn!
With titles like Candy Crush and Farm Heroes, our code runs on hundreds of millions of devices across the world. As a Technology Intern at King, you can either get involved with the making of the games, where you together with your colleagues take part in the process of specifying, designing, building and implementing existing and new game features. Or join our teams working behind the scenes with our engines, systems and platforms instead. A game that looks good on paper is nice, but a game that plays brilliantly across all digital platforms is better. Help us do just that.
Game Developer Intern
Our game developers work on both new and live games, implementing game mechanics, features, and technologies that will be enjoyed by millions of players all over the world. We use and develop a wide variety of technologies across the full stack, working and learning together as a team, and constantly learning from each other. For this opportunity, it would be required to have some experience in using C++. Having Unity or other game engine knowledge is a bonus, as well as having scripting experience from University/independent projects.
Unity Developer Intern
Our studio is creating the future of King games! We are championing innovation and exploring new territories for games. Now we are looking for a passionate developer to work as part of a team to help create our new generation of games. As a developer you are interested in programming and game development. You also are analytical and interested in understanding the tech you work with. You will be working directly with our creative team and will help contribute to the creative process and deliver high quality, well- structured code. We are ideally looking for those with some experience of development using C# in Unity projects and as a bonus have some knowledge of mobile development.
C++ Developer Intern
Our C++ engine developers work on improving and maintaining our cross- platform mobile engine, editor and toolchain. You will contribute to developing and refining new and existing features on behalf of our dozens of live production game teams. You will learn about the challenges faced by artists, coders, and designers, and build the technology that helps them to continuously deliver their projects. Ideally, you are experienced with C++ and passionate about building technology, games and might even have had experience with game engines yourself.
QA Analyst Intern
We are looking for a highly motivated QA Specialist Intern to join our game engine team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for gaming and a desire to learn and grow in the field of Quality Assistance for game engines. As a QA Specialist Intern, you will be expected to learn and acquire new skills in the field of testing. You should be willing to take on new challenges and actively seek out opportunities to learn and gain experience. As your responsibilities: Perform manual testing of game engine features and functionalities; Document and track defects; Work closely with developers to ensure that defects are resolved in a timely manner; Develop and execute test scenarios and test plans; Share updates in daily with QA team and provide status updates on testing activities; Learn about testing processes and methodologies to continuously improve them; Complete assigned tasks within specified timelines; Work with the QA & development team to reproduce and debug issues
Backend Developer Intern (Java)
Our backend platform teams provide back- end framework and tools to run King’s games at scale in both our on- premise database and Google Cloud Platform. You will be involved in development of core backend functionality for King games and other back- end services as part of an autonomous team collaborating with other platform teams and game teams. You will be part of the team process in design, planning, backlog refinement, stand- ups and retrospectives. You will also be part of the development process like code reviews, pair and mob- programming and DevOps practices. As a backend developer intern, you’ll need to design APIs, solve scalability challenges & write clean code. You bring solid knowledge of data structures and algorithms, you are familiar with Java and understand client- server architecture. Knowledge of developing applications in GCP would be a bonus.
IT Support Intern
IT Asset Management ensures our hardware and software are maintained correctly through their lifecycle, from purchasing to disposal. Hardware at King is connected to a multitude of systems in order to provide us data that we need for maintaining the asset, software installations, patching, purchase forecasting, supporting users and general management of the hardware fleet. You’ll work together with other interns in our larger locations on a mini- project related to Asset Management! Ideal skills to assist the IT with Asset Management include a sharp attention to detail, generic asset management knowledge, generic procurement knowledge, Microsoft Excel/Sheets knowledge, some project planning knowledge and beginner proficiency in Windows and MacOS environments.
Tech Writer Intern
King’s internal game engine team, Fiction Factory, is looking for a Technical Writer Intern to help support the team and its users. As a Technical Writer Intern, you will help shape documentation and communications. The internship will expose you to many areas of the business. The role involves developing, delivering and maintaining documentation for users while ensuring best practices and translating potentially complex concepts into easy- to- understand content. The role also includes writing newsletters, communications and other engaging materials for our stakeholders. We are looking for candidates who have clear verbal communication skills and are willing and able to express new ideas, concerns, and opinions directly to the wider teams. Ideally you are someone who thrives on clear communication methodologies and enjoys communicating complex technical material in a clear, simple and articulate manner. Experience with programming languages and producing documentation using HTML/CSS or Markdown is a bonus but not essential.
Machine Learning Engineer Intern
You will be working closely with a group of 10- 15 experienced and talented Machine Learning Engineers, Data Scientists and Researchers, helping us to further understand, research, model, predict, implement and push the boundaries of our Machine Learning research and applications in our mobile games. You will also be part of the Machine Learning and Data Science community with over 200 data scientists and machine learning experts at King. You have strong programming skills in python (experience with tensorflow or keras is a plus) and have taken courses in machine learning and software engineering. We are looking for candidates who are interested in reading machine learning research methodologies and implementing them. As an ML intern in the AI Center of Excellence team (ACE), you can be exposed to applied research on ML in state of the art work such as transformers, uncertainty modeling, generative models, or applied research in active learning, transfer learning and supervised learning. You will be helping to implement, evaluate and iterate the solution for the production use- cases. You will also be collaborating with ML engineers, Data Scientists and Researchers to help implement additional automation components to our existing framework.
