Job Description:

We are looking for a Level Design Lead to join Catalog Games, a team where you can experiment, go beyond the obvious and take the lead. You will manage a team of Level Designers supporting 9 games and play a key part in crafting well- balanced, consistent and thrilling levels based on the games’ basic rules as well as support the delivery of the games’ core vision. Ultimately, you will ensure our games are fun to play!

As part of Catalog Games, you will have the opportunity to not only work on 9 games, but you will also be able to join a really team with varied strengths that works hard and has fun even harder.

This opportunity will connect you with Level Designers working on all our 9 titles and you will come together to seek challenges specific to the craft of Level Design.

Your role within the Kingdom

  • Lead, mentor, coach and encourage a team of level designers by creating a psychological safety environment, with an open communication & feedback culture, setting clear and daring individual & team goals,  leading performance and developing our talent, as well as ensuring we have a hard- working, diverse and engage team

  • Set the standard for your team in terms of level creation, quality assessment, and standard methodologies to build, assess, rebalance and tune new and existing levels.

  • Lead initiatives for all 9 games by answering questions around level design, like how much content to release, what balancing strategy makes the most sense for our titles, what decisions should be taken based on your understanding and analysis of the data, and what actions are needed to ensure that the games continue to be daring in a rapidly changing industry.

  • Work closely with game designers, developers, artists and producers to craft new features and supply to creative discussions.

  • Experience in OS Management including handling the relationship with our OS vendors, prioritizing and driving a balanced workload between in house and outsourced level design teams, as well as ensuring a healthy collaboration.

  • Manage your team in continuously improving workflow and process efficiency.

  • Blend creativity with methodical testing and balancing

  • Remain up- to- date with Level Design literature and best practices to continue contributing to Catalog Games Level Design expertise.
     

Skills to build thrills

  • You have an outstanding passion for games, understand the casual market and know how to think out of the box. And, of course, you’ll need to know what makes a good game.

  • Experience and/or knowledge of level design for casual games

  • Experience handling or mentoring creatives

  • Solid understanding of game balancing and pacing

  • Experience working within a game production team and/or knowledge of game production standard methodologies

  • Effective communication skills
