Your role within the Kingdom
We are looking for a Director of Data Science to lead a global Data Science team into the next Candy Crush Soda chapter of growth.
You will lead the craft of Data Science within Candy Crush Soda including Data Scientist team leads, data scientists, business analysts and game operators. You will focus on the quality and delivery of product insights that are actionable and create impact.
You are also a technical expert in multiple domains, which allows you to spot opportunities and risks before anyone else. You work closely with teams across Candy Crush Soda and King to transform information into insights and recommendations.
Develop and lead a highly performing Data Science and Analytics team
Drive the professional development of your team and ensure a happy and productive Data Science craft
Be the reference people- manager for the data science organization
Establish a team structure, processes and vision that ensure your team is set up to deliver value across the organization
Lead and improve the hiring process and funnel to keep up with rapid team growth
Enhance the collaboration between data science and teams in all other crafts (production, design, UX, QA, Dev,...)
Reinforce and lead a data driven culture in the organization
Product & Insights
Develop product data and insights that are actionable and impact decision- making, execution and operations for initiatives across the different area of the game
You are the leading expert in the team for Product Data Science and are sought out for advice from stakeholders across Candy Crush Soda
You become a trusted partner for other crafts (Design, Art, UX, Production) aiding the game’s team biggest decisions based on data and product insights
Delivery & Quality
Consistently mature the rigor of analyses, processes, and tools ensuring data science and analytical delivery that is timely, trusted, and reliable
Work with the Analytics team and stakeholders to define and manage end- to- end processes: scope projects, build pipelines and datasets, synthesize results, and communicate recommendations
You have strong communication skills particularly the ability to explain and discuss Data Science complex concepts with colleagues from other crafts
You have the technical competence and leadership abilities to coach team members in the adapted methodologies, communication, and solutions required
Tools & Methodology
Ramp up stakeholders self- service to data using a combination of tools, dashboards, platforms and education
Keep on top of new and existing data science trends, methodologies and technologies
Develop relationships with external other data providers within King
Skills to create thrills
An advanced degree in a quantitative field - computer science, engineering, statistics, operations research, economics, etc..
6+ years of experience in Analytics or Data Science both as an individual contributor and leading teams
Consistent record of leading and influencing projects using data and working with large scale data and infrastructure
Be a subject matter expert and analysis lead for gaming products.
Can research, identify and disseminate best practices across teams in terms of tools, systems and processes.
Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with cross- functional audiences (e.g Product, Engineering, Design, Finance,...).
Methodological and practical; able to prioritize and assist with business requests i.e. analyzing A/B tests, strange player behaviour, complex interaction dynamics, etc.
Experience with a broad set of statistical and machine learning methods to solve and optimize critical business problems and metrics
During the summer months, the processing time for new applications is longer than normal. We will start interviewing for this position in August.
