Role Description

We’re looking for an experienced Learning & Development Senior Manager to create and drive a Learning & Development strategy which brings to life this essential part of King’s Culture, supporting our leaders and employees to fulfil their potential. 

Leading a team of two you will partner with our HR Directors and business leaders to design and implement a best in class leadership curriculum which helps to accelerate our management capability and confidence. This will be suitable for a global audience and incorporate blended learning solutions to ensure we shift and sustain behaviours of this population. 

You will also ensure that our more holistic learning offering is fit for purpose; supporting both skills and personal development for all Kingsters whether they be in our games, tech or sales teams, or in our corporate functions.

You will have an understanding of different learning solutions, methodologies, technologies and return on investment approaches to ensure that the solutions we develop drive value to the bottom line of our organisation. These must also be applicable in a global and hybrid working environment.

In addition, this role will be responsible for ensuring all new Kingsters are effectively onboarded and inducted into the Kingdom; immersing them into King’s culture from day 1 and helping to accelerate their time to high performance. 

Given this is a brand new role you’ll have the opportunity to shape both our strategy and learning roadmap as well as recruit and onboard support resource, prioritising quick wins as well as landing our wider L&D strategy. 

Priorities can often change in a fast- paced environment like ours, so this role will be hands- on and includes, but is not limited to, the following responsibilities:


  • With an understanding of external best practices and our internal needs you will define and deliver King’s Learning & Development strategy and content, aligned to King’s objectives, people priorities and annual HR processes i.e. performance management, goal setting, engagement, succession and talent planning

  • Conduct an annual training needs assessment to identify business critical development requirements, with awareness of external talent trends

  • Ongoing awareness of industry best practices for all things talent, leadership development, and blended learning solutions. You will explore new and innovative ways of ensuring professional development for our King leaders and managers

  • Ensure King’s culture, values, diversity, equity and inclusion agendas are championed as part of all learning initiatives

  • Partner with Senior Leaders & People Directors to understand training needs, development opportunities, and priorities across Games, Crafts, Tech teams and other business functions. This will include collaborating on workforce planning solutions helping to ensure we are building the skills of the future and supporting the career development of our Kingsters

  • Design and deliver effective blended learning experiences, in our Kingdoms and virtually, ensuring that these have a strong ROI and are adding value to our bottom line

  • Manage and improve existing training & development resources (systems, data and material) ensuring that these allow us to track and monitor the impact and effectiveness of our learning interventions and we are continuously improving in this space. This will include responsibility for tracking learning & development budgets and costs, optimising return on training investments 

  • Design and facilitation of high performing, team engagement and other team interventions

  • With a strong understanding of Coaching methodologies and approaches you will manage and maintain our preferred supplier list ensuring we have high quality suppliers and programs which support various groups of talent within the Kingdom

  • Build business cases to get sign- off for new programs or proposals, as well as piloting and testing new programs to ensure effectiveness before launch

  • Develop and manage learning processes including (but not limited to): training content repositories, completion and feedback data, our training & development request and approval processes

  • Manage existing and new learning & development supplier relationships 

  • Ensuring training & development equality across our Kingster population

  • Be an ambassador for the value of continuous learning & development at all levels  

  • Manage a small team and leverage resources across the business to really make a difference to Kingster development and career opportunities

Candidate Profile

  • Extensive experience of learning and development specialist experience, experience facilitating both small or larger workshops and meetings, designing and delivering training, workshops and other learning interventions

  • A strategic and creative mindset when planning learning outcomes and a practical attitude for learning solutions

  • A good understanding of the impact and synergies between HR processes and learning & development offerings

  • Passion for people development, knowledge sharing, psychology and learning design

  • Curiosity - you will be passionate about learning and role model a growth mindset. You will keep up to date with external best practice in both the leadership, skills, and personal development space, designing and delivering solutions that reflect this

  • Excellent organisation skills to be able to manage and coordinate cross- functional and cross- location training programs

  • Demonstrated ability to use tools for analysis, tracking, reporting on the success of learning & development initiatives

  • Strong sense of urgency and results- orientation; ability to take ownership of plans and see them through to completion

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong Microsoft Office (excel, word, powerpoint etc.) and Google Drive skills

  • Experience working within a complex and international organisation, flexing solutions to both local and global needs

  • Ability to handle confidential data

  • Coaching qualifications would be ideal

  • Interest in the gaming sector and technology

  • Interest in championing People, Culture, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion agendas
