Job Description:

Opportunity Research Manager – 8 months FTC (Maternity Cover)

As Opportunity Research manager in Portfolio Games, you’ll be responsible for identifying, understanding, and validating the freshest ideas and have a key role in deciding which we take forward to find our next big innovation. Supporting 5 of our most exiting Saga games; Farm Heroes, Pet Rescue, Bubble Witch 3, Candy Crush Friends and Candy Crush Jelly, this is an exciting opportunity that offers variety in the scope of your work, giving you access to make an impact at scale.

In this role, you’ll work with the game development teams and collaborate with other insight and strategy teams around the business to secure a healthy pipeline of ideas, carry out in- depth research and analysis on the most promising ones and workshop the results to uncover the next big opportunity. 

You will own the team’s body of knowledge, sharing it with teams who you will support with further research where necessary; you will be responsible for creating the future! 

Your role in the Kingdom:

  • Conduct research projects involving the identification, collation, and synthesis of existing research to inform product and game development.  

  • Work directly with Game Leads to design, lead and deliver a Portfolio Games Research & Insight schedule. 

  • Specifically support stakeholders across the Marketing, Art, Game and UX Design, you will coordinate and deliver research projects to support and influence key business decisions

  • Ensure a thorough understanding of King’s strategic plan to generate relevant research on casual mobile games, including future trends and analysis of past performance that will help King’s decision making.

  • Show creativity in thinking and forethought to define the research agenda for King, ensuring we know more about casual gamers than anyone else and can apply this knowledge to grow King’s footprint. 

  • Manage the development and delivery of the in- house Research capability

  • Articulate the importance of Research based decisions and provide actionable recommendations to Game Leads and Heads of Games 

  • Direct and conduct end- to- end qualitative research including recruitment, writing discussion guides and analysis.

  • Develop our use of a range of techniques such as ethnographic research, depth interviews and co- creation through early adopter community building and demand testing.

  • Direct and conduct quantitative research to validate qualitative insights. This includes; writing questionnaires, creating sample plans and analysing data.

  • Create inspiring ways to tell real human stories from the research.

  • Work with game designers, product leads, CRM leads and Marketing during sprints based on all the discovery work around the player, the market and competitors.

Skills to create thrills:

  • Significant experience in market research

  • Experience in conducting end- to- end qualitative and quantitative research projects

  • Understanding of digital and mobile products with the ability to identify drivers behind player behaviour.

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to use data to inform business and design decisions

  • Solid communication and collaboration skills

  • Strong presentation skills

  • Ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders across the organisation

  • Ability to proactive in solving problems and finding your way forward

Tasty Bonus:

  • Passion for gaming and a solid understanding of the mobile, digital and tech industries.

  • Knowledge of psychology.  

  • Have knowledge of lean development
