Lead Data Scientist, Performance Marketing

We have a new opportunity for a brilliant Lead Data Scientist to join the Performance Marketing team, where you will work to drive and maximize King's paid digital investment. You will be part of a community of 80+ business intelligence, analytics, and data science experts, and work closely with various teams across the company to develop your own skills and capabilities.
We're looking for an experienced manager who gets excited about answering difficult business problems and isn't afraid to roll up their sleeves and get deep into the data. This is the perfect role for someone who wants to continue to grow their data analysis skills as well as the strategic thinking while managing a brilliant team of data scientists into providing a meaningful impact on our marketing capabilities.
You will be the key point of contact and knowledge on how to improve our marketing automation platform, LTV modelling, media buying mechanisms and the impact of marketing on King’s player network. We are expecting a seasoned player in this industry with a strong vision on how to continuously improve the quality of our attribution systems, forecasting capabilities and strategic recommendations.
Your Role Within Our Kingdom
You’ll be part of the team that plays a critical role in driving strategic and operational improvements in the media buying and strategy for Performance Marketing. We operate as an internal consulting group and you will work collaboratively with media buyers, games teams, tech and product managers to boost our ROI, title acquisition and overall player network. You will work on improving our ability to predict LTV, exploring different mechanisms to allocate our marketing budgets across different internal and external channels and helping bidding channels maximize expected activations giving a budget.
More importantly, you will have the responsibility of managing and mentoring our brilliant team of Data Scientists, ensuring their technical development and managing their project roadmap.
Specifically, you will:
Translate business needs to technical requirements and research projects, then work with development teams to ensure correct implementation and tracking
Own the analytical roadmap for Performance Marketing at King, ensuring an optimal project prioritization & resource allocation
Manage our Data Science unit, ensuring the technical growth and development of the team
Skills to Create Thrills
MSc/PhD, preferably in maths, statistics, marketing or economics
5+ years experience in data science or analytics role, with previous experience managing and mentoring a Data Science Team
Strong expertise in marketing automation, LTV forecasting, recommender systems, experiment design and machine learning.
Expert Knowledge in R/Python and SQL. Able to technically mentor other members of the team.
Stats: Understanding the appropriate statistical techniques to use in different circumstances
Capacity to Mentor & guide other data scientists within the London office.
Plan & lead execution of technical projects/innovations.
Capacity to work with a wide array of stakeholders: from engineering teams to studios and marketing teams.
Good presentation & project management skills, with a knack for explaining analytical concepts to people from other fields.
Tasty Bonus Points
Experience in predictive modelling, ideally within a gaming, digital media buying and/or marketing environment (can be through internships, research projects, or other work experience)
Good knowledge, genuine passion, and interest of gaming/tech/media industry trends
Knowledge of digital marketing & advertising technology ecosystem & stack
Proven business acumen with strategic and analytical capabilities, with experience using data to help drive strategy and business decisions
